Unhappy Bash PATH fouled up on 8.4 systemd

Hi all,
Just discovered a major mess up. When I run : echo $PATH if find this

/opt/rustc/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin

I reinstalled bash startup files and every command I could find on the net and it still will not change. It got messed up installing Rustc and that last command they have listed.

source /etc/profile.d/rustc.sh

I got to looking after Spiky mentioned my bash was missing user name. Any help will be appreciated

You want to add to or change $PATH?

Code:
PATH=$PATH:/path/here

echo $PATH
/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/path/here
Look at
/etc/profile

and
~/.bashrc
Code:
export PATH=$PATH:/path/here

Thanks Teckk,

I'm just trying to make sure its setup as it should be. Every time I set it it doesn't change. I will try your codes

Shouldn't it be :/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/path/here ? when I run echo $PATH

Thanks for the help

Your $PATH might not look like mine. I'm on an Arch machine. Arch has it's own tree. The /path/here which is nonsense, was just to show how to do it.

-bash: have: command not found
-bash: have: command not found
-bash: have: command not found
-bash: have: command not found
-bash: have: command not found
-bash: have: command not found
danny [ ~ ]$ echo $PATH
/opt/rustc/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin

This is your problem not the PATH variable check your bash startup files for "have" and either correct the files or instal "have" ( whatever that is ).

You're welcome but for other users please post what your actual solution was.

Still haven't found where this came from:
-bash: have: command not found

Checked all the bash files for "have" and nothing

everything seems to work ok

If I ever find out what caused it I will let you all know
