what filesystem for 3 TB filesserver
Hy,
i have to choose a filessystem type for a filesserver with 3 TB disk space.
Approx. 15 users have their homedirectories on the server, accessing it via NFS and sometimes SAMBA.
Typical files on the server range from 100MB to 1GB.
The access pattern is mainly sequential - random access is seldom.
The filesystem will sure grow in future (thats why i use also LVM).
Journaling is a must.
I think ext3 is a bit outdated.
I never heard someone really recommend jfs.
Reiser is often stated to be fast, especially with small files.
XFS (which i use up to now) is often said to be good for sequential I/O (with big files).
which filessystem do you recommend for this filesserver application?
which parameters (at filessystem creation time) could improve the performance furthermore?
thanks!
