Question Suitable spooler for embedded applications

Hi,

I dont have much working knowledge in linux and now being involved in developing a printer interface for an embedded system.
I know that the commonly used spooler for Ubuntu kind of distributions is cups, and my question is will it be suitable for small embedded applications. It looks like a full fludged printing system.

Is there any other spooler available, which are still maintained and a bit more simpler ? which would be the best one suitable in my case other that cups ?

You posted this same question twice...your other thread has been reported.

As far as spoolers go, LPR/LPD have been around for quite some time, and are still active. They are more lightweight, but the better question is why? If you've got an embedded system, having a built-in web interface for printing will make things MUCH easier to maintain/change/update later. Do you really want a user to be editing printcap files manually to add/change a printer?
