The Load on the Sendmail Server is 5.8

I didn't say you did, maybe someone else did. Also, local delivery is also a MDA thing (say procmail) so you also would need to check /etc/procmail.*{conf,rc}, Procmail include directory recipes, personal ~/.forwards and Procmail logs if it is set to log verbose (else make it log verbose), any anti-spam and anti-virus tools too. Also check if there was anything changed or upgraded since this behaviour started. And also have a user save a message and its duplicate (all with full headers) and check for differences. Does this problem occur for all users? Has anyone tried a different mail client? If none of this turns up changes then we could run a copy of Sendmail in debug mode, but that's a last resort option.
