RHEL4 U2 Install Fails with Kernel Panic

I am installing RHEL 4 U2 AS on a Intel S5000 family board with one Core 2 Duo processor.
The install will stop with a Kernel Panic. This happens immediately after IDE HDD driver loading.
The last call in the call stack is to the function kernel_thread_helper+0x5.0xb. The below are the last two lines in the dump message.

<0>Fatal exception: panic in 5 seconds
Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception

The installation is from a IDE CD-ROM to a SATA hard drive.

I had a similar problem with a HP XW9300 dual Opteron. Try using the boot parameter "acpi=off".
After starting up on the RHEL boot CD, at the command line enter:
linux acpi=off

I root caused problem to be in the ASL code i added. I fixed it and the issue is gone. And yes if I turn ACPI off the problem wont occur at the cost of losing ACPI mode. Thanks a lot.
