Question RHEL 6.1 memory requirements


My System Configurations are
Celeron
CPU-1200 MHz
memory-512 MB

I have downloaded rhel 6.1 iso from redhat.com,

but I can't install rhel 6.1 in graphics mode, it automatically install in text mode says low memory, now what???

Yes, 512MB for redhat 6.1 is very low. You should consider upgrading to at least 1GB.
Actually using another system with a bigger CPU would not hurt either.
It seems strange to me to be using Redhat 6.1 (the latest and expensive Linux from Redhat) with old cheap hardware. But i suppose you have your reasons.

Anyway, if it runs, you'll have to disable a few services to get it to run smoothly. Maybe also run without graphic (level 3 inittab).

CentOS 5.6 ( the red hat rebuild of 5.6) should install on that
but 512 is very low

if you want to have a GUI i might look into installing "puppy linux "
