regarding openldap authentication

Hi,
I m stuck in a problem with open ldap. I have a server
with kernel as 2.6.10-1.741_FC3 and open ldap installed on it (2.2). This I have installed.
few days back. THe searching query of names and other attributes is running fine.

Now I need to authenticate all the users in LDAP for accessing the data from the LDAP viz, if any user wants to search the mail id by connecting to the ldap it should provide a password. No other server like NIS or any other are running. How can I do that. Please help.
