HI All,

Jul 12 13:09:50 stargate4 sendmail[15238]: i6C59C8J015238:
from=alan@starhub.com, size=5, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<200407120509.i6C
59C8J015238@localhost.localdomain>, proto=SMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=surfgate1
[127.0.0.1]
Jul 12 13:09:50 stargate4 sendmail[15240]: i6C59C8J015238:
to=bplee@starhub.net.sg, delay=00:00:05, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=esmtp, p
ri=30005, relay=pop2.starhub.net.sg. [203.116.254.40], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent

but after some configuration later, my mail route into own aliases.

Jul 16 14:10:18 surfgate1 sendmail[3277]: i6G69mSp003277: from=bplee@starhub.net.sg, size=5, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<200407160610.i6G69mSp003277@surfgate1>, proto=SMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=surfgate1 [127.0.0.1]
Jul 16 14:10:18 surfgate1 sendmail[3278]: i6G69mSp003277: to=bplee@starhub.net.sg, ctladdr=bplee@starhub.net.sg (500/500), delay=00:00:06, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=local, pri=30333, dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent

As you said, your sendmail "thinks" that he is responsible for mail domain starhub.net.sg. You can easily check this via dig command:

dig @localhost starhub.net.sg MX

If answer section shows Ip of your localhost, then you have to reconfigure sendmail. Search for a file called

/etc/mail/sendmail.cw

there you can define all domains sendmail thinks it is responsible for.

Thanks for ur reply, i have try the command "dig @localhost starhub.net.sg MX", below is the message.

; <<>> DiG 9.2.2 <<>> @localhost starhub.net.sg MX
;; global options: printcmd
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached

i have add in all the domain in sendmail.cw , but the mails still route to local user ID.

There's no DNS daemon running on localhost for that machine. Try just dig starhub.net.sg mx (without the @localhost), you should get an answer.

By the way, what is the hostname of that machine and what are the contents of the /etc/hosts file? I wonder if your machine's domain is set to just "starhub", that would probably cause sendmail to deliver locally.

Hi, really thanks for u response.

Below is what inside my hosts file. Is there any issue why mail will route locally? I try the dig command and i can find my dns information.

#127.0.0.1 surfgate1 localhost.localdomain localhost
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
#203.117.3.6 surfgate1.starhub.net.sg surfgate1

Thanks,
Alan
