Then as a suggestion get one of the many Live Linux CD's;

Knoppix, Ubuntu, Fedora Core and a host of others are available. All fit on a single CD or DVD (if you want). They boot and run from the CD/DVD drive without installing anything.

Many more are available visit: http://distrowatch.com/

You forgot to say which distro ( "version" ) of the software you downloaded. Please describe it.

When you burned it to CD, did you simply burn the ISO file to the CD, or did you re-create the CD image from the ISO file that you donwloaded?
If you simply saved the ISO file to CD - in the same manner as saving any other files to CD - then you have not created a bootable CD.
Be sure you used a feature in your burning software that re-creates the CD.
How to tell: Put the CD in the drive. Look at it with Windows Explorer. What is on it?
One big file? If so, post here the name of it.

Once you are sure you have a bootable CD, to run it, simply put it in your CD drive and reboot.
If your computer is set up to attempt to boot from CD
before it attempts to boot from the hard drive, then it will detect the bootable CD in the drive and boot from it. That is the whole poing of this exercise.

If your computer is not presently set up to attempt to boot from the CD drive before the hard drive, then you will have to enter 'set up' and change the boot order.
If you do not know how to enter 'set up' and change the boot order, post here and ask. Or try searching the forums here - it should have been discussed sometime.

re:My querie

hello team,

you asked me which version of the software. i have downloaded GParted Live CD 0.3.3-7 AND KORORAA SOFTWARE. THEN I BURNED THE IMAGE FILE ORDINARILY. THEN I DOWNLOADED THE POWER ISO AND OPENED IT. I COULD SEE THE FILES LIKE ISOLINUX, BOOT FILES ETC.

NOW AS YOU SAID I WILL SET IT TO CREATE BOOTABLE CD AND BURN IT.

OK TEAM THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTION

BYE.

PLEASE STOP SHOUTING, typing in all caps is consider shouting and in bad taste.

Second burning a bootable Linux CD from an ISO image should create a copy of the CD, the image is the CD and should be burned as such. Please review your burning application on how to burn an ISO image. Many times this can be found by using Help from the application menu. The end results will allow you see files and directories on the 'burned' CD, not by using something like power ISO.

cygwin works nicely for me when I have to use microsoft, I think something like Cooperative Linux would provide a better feel for a "typical" linux system - especially since it works with multiple distributions.

Dude, get cygwin. It's linux that runs under windows. You can add the cygwin executables to the windows path and then execute all the linux commands you want, right from a windows command prompt.

Cygwin is good, it is useful, and it is not linux. I find it useful for running various tools when I cannot get a linux system, but I do not think it would provide as accurate an impression of what linux systems as would a live CD distribution.
