keyboard emulation error

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hello,

I tried to delete this post and I can't figure it out. I tried to change the subject, couldn't figure that out either. so Now it's just confusing.

The keyboard emulation error I fixed.

but now I can't start an X session, I get an error that says fatal IO error 104.

I picked a generic video card because I won't be doing a lot of X work and don't need any fancy features.

Thoughts?

Hello,

I just loaded RHEL 3 on a spare box I had laying around and am getting the following error repeatedly:

keyboard.c: can't emulate rawmode for keycode 258

The local console is flooded with these error messages.

On install I picked the generic US keyboard for installation. It is a PS/2 keyboard.

Thanks in advance.

Generic might not be generic enough; what card do you have and what driver did you select? VESA works on virtually everything; might give that a try if you haven't already.

I have an onboard Intel/Dell something or other. I think it's ATI FireGL V3100.

I chose Standard VGA 1024x768.

I just ran redhat-config-xfree86 to change the video card and it autodetected the Intel chip, installed the driver, and X loaded just fine.

I guess RedHat is good for something.

Thanks for the help.
