Common file structure - RHEL 4.4 Solaris 2.6

I have a Solaris 2.6 workstation and RHEL 4.4 workstation that needs to be able to mount and compile code on a common directory or file system.

We have tried different mount options from both workstations but both come up with unrecognizable file systems.

Can this be done?
