Using RPi (running Kodi) to turn off TV and amp when not in use.

Hi,

I wonder if you guys might help me with a long-standing problem.

I watch TV on a Raspberry Pi 2 (running LibreElec), which is plugged into an amplifier and then into my TV.

After about five minutes of not being used, the Pi dims the picture on the TV.

What I really want, when this happens, is for the power to be cut to the TV and the amplifier.

When I touch the remote, I want the TV and amplifier to come back on again.

Can anyone suggest any clever way of achieving this?

I did consider something like this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Uninterru...wer/B003WK62WU

but this will not work as the Pi's wattage is too low to work with the master switch.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

pi can drive anything using its GPIO ports, for example switching a relay on/off. Additionally it should also recognize the button press on the remote (that is an infrared sensor I think).
but actually I do not know if it was a really good idea (to cut power)
