I seem to be having an issue trying to boot slax (or any pendrive distro) from my ipod shuffle. The point at which I'm running into problems is that I'm trying to make the shuffle bootable. I keep getting errors when trying to use syslinux. I can't remember all the urls I've looked at, but heres some:
Everything I try seems to go well until its time to format the mbr of the shuffle or make it bootable in some way. usually with permission problems. Can anyone confirm if this is even possible or make any suggestions?
You are sure that the Linux can't recognise your ipod.
Yet you claimed everything went well (pressumably you were talking installation despite you couldn't find ipod in the device names) until it was time to format the MBR.
You now think may be technically your task is not possible.
But you want the syslinux fixed.
Do you intend to install Slax on a USB device and the nearest you can lay your hand on is the ipod? Or do you expect Slax to operate in the ipod shuffle?
Yeah I should have been more specific. I apologize. I will answer your questions. Firstly, I have both a windows and linux box here. The linux box cannot recognize the ipod at all. The windows box can, and I can copy all required files to the ipod, but then when it comes to formatting the mbr or making the ipod bootable, IE: Boot up the windows machine using USB-HDD, it gave me the "Reading boot sector: The parameter is incorrect." error when I tried to format the mbr. All I would like is to use the ipod to boot up my windows machine into SLAX.
Hopefully this cleared some questions up, and thanks for the quick response Saikee!
Well thats a pissoff. I just went out and bought a 2 gig flash drive, and the same issue occurs. I am obviously doing something wrong. Back to the drawing board methinks.
