scripting buildroot setup

Hello,

I am working to script the extraction and build of buildroot from its release tarball.

I am hungup on getting around the menu driven configuration.

So far what I am doing is
untarring the .tar.bz2,
copying in the config file (to buildroot/local/<project>/<project>.config)
trying to run 'make getconfiguration BOARD=<project>'.

When i do this i get the lines:
Makefile:231: .config.cmd: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `.config.cmd'. Stop.

If i open the menu (make menuconfig or make config) it will generate a basic .config.cmd and then I can quit, and do a the 'make get...' line.

I've tried to do a cp of the files that are different at the top level (.config and .config.cmd) and then just insert those after the untar, but to no avail. Any ideas on how I can get the configuration to load my configuration without user interaction?

You might look into use of "expect". This is a tool that you can use to wait for specific input then respond with a specific answer. It is often used for this kind of interactive thing. You may need to install expect first.
