which distro is good

I have an old off-brand laptop with AMD K6-II processor, 64mb of ram, 4mb of video ram, and a 20 GB hard drive. I have tried to install LFS and GENTOO, but neither seems to work. It has no base operating system now, but used to run WIN98. Does anyone have any suggestions for a distro that will install on this hardware? Thanks.

The processor is not bad, but 64mb is too little RAM to run X and stuff (you should try to get more RAM if you can). What problems did you run into with LFS and Gentoo? We could probably help you with that. Damn Small Linux is a lightweight distro; I dunno...
