SuSE / Mandrake DVD question

With SuSE 8.2, dvd playback was choppy (only 20fps). With Mandrake 9.2 it was perfect.

Since I prefer SuSE, I'm wondering will the new SuSE play DVD's better (as in like Mandrake 9.2, it will have a more up to date kernel / packages etc).

By the way: I don't think the DVD playback is a config issue. Ive tried every DMA setting possible. The comparison above was with the same dvd player (ogle) so the difference isn't there.

Thanks for reading!

I hate -to be the bearer of bad news, but for some reason, Suse 9.0 pro lacks out of the box DVD playback. not sure about 9.1

Thanks for your reply. I am aware that SuSE do not provide out of the box dvd playback (due to patent issues). But after installing the necessary libs on both oses, the oucome was better in mandrake for some reason.
