Starting out...

Hi, I've been interested in Linux for a very long time and I'm interested in starting out with it (I'm an extremely long Windows user). But I was wondering which distribution should I first experience with, I know it should be up to myself, but I haven't experienced them all or anough to actually choose. So I wanted to know in your opinions which distribution is the best for Linux beginners.

Thanks guys,
John

EDIT: I just noticed the Linux distribution forum below this. Could someone please move it. Thanks.

Do you mean move your post or the forum???

Seriously--welcome.

My standard advice is to start with anything in the top-ten list at Distrowatch. See my "getting started" link below.

I ment move this topic to the most relevent category. And I'll mess about with some of them. My hard drive seems to have something up with it, keeps complaining about bad sectors.

Thanks for the website.
