Thanks!!

I have Smoothwall 2.0 beta5 (Orient) and I am using it with a Speedtouch 330. It works fine, now, but I did have problems getting it running. To get it running:

1. Replace the files /usr/local/bin/pppoa3 and /usr/local/bin/modem_run on your smoothwall with versions that support the 330! (This helps a lot) I downloaded the source from:
http://speedtouch.sourceforge.net/in...wnload.en.html
I then built the binaries, initially on redhat 8 but this gave problems with glibc compatibility so I had to build on redhat 6.2 "borrowing" some usb headers from redhat 8.
I can email the binaries if you don't want to build them

2. edit the file /etc/ppp/ppp-on and alter line 232 to read:
my @pppoacommand = ('/usr/local/bin/pppoa3','-e1','-vpi',$usbadslsettings{'VPI'},'-vci',$usbadslsettings{'VCI'});

i.e. insert "'-e1'," which is a new parameter required when using the 330.

3. Now upload the mgmt.o firmware file to your Smoothwall using the "alcatel speedtouch usb adsl firmware upload" option from the maintenance menu. You can get this in a gzipped tar file from:
http://dl.xs4all.nl/adsl/speedmgmt.tar.gz

4. Configure you DSL connection under networking->ppp settings.
Useful help with this can be found here:
http://www.btinternet.com/~duncan.ja...moothwall.html

5. Reboot your Smoothwall and all should be OK

I did all of this last weekend and I have nothing written down so appologies if I've forgotten something.

wow!

That sounds fantastic.

If you could email me the binaries, that would be even better. I will put them up somewhere to host them if that is ok, so that we can share them with the rest of the community and probably put it into the forums over at smoothwall.

Thanks!!

I have placed the pppoa3 and modem_run binaries here:
http://www.thejenkinsons.co.uk/public/

This is a fairly temporary location. So if somebody wants to put them somewhere more permanent, please do.
