searching for that kind of distro

I've been searching up and down for a distro that's right for me. Right now I have Desktop BSD but without support for my ATI-X1600 card (by that I mean 3d, open-GL) it's not much use for me and I don't want to have to spend alot of money just to get a card that's supported by it. I have the following requirements I need to satisfy the following requirements, if possible:

- Easy installation process
- Support for newer ATI-Xxxx cards (as mentioned above)
- Huge repository (or as big as it gets, besides BSD/Gentoo-ports)
- NOT BSD/Gentoo based (Gentoo is kewl but kind of buggy in all
Gentoo-based that I have tried so far e. g. printer setup issues and
whatnot.
- Low resource footprint, as in fast, lightweight, smooth
- A packaging system that allows to install packages downloaded from
elsewhere outside a repo and checks/satisfies dependencies for
those.

So, yeah that's what I'm kinda looking for, so if anyone can come up with some recommendations that would be very helpful. I don't expect that all my needs get satisfied but as long as it's easy to install, supports my graphics card (ATI X1600), has a huge-as-it-gets repo and works smooth is good should do the trick.

Greetings, Patrick

You don't ask for much. You might want to check out Ubuntu 8.04. Last time I checked they have one of the largest repos (being based off of Debian helps). ATI hasn't release drivers for the latest Xorg server yet so that will limit your choices severely.
