RH 8 and multimedia = incompatibility?

I just installed RH 8 today and I can't listen or view any media files. Is it a software problem, or a hardware one? I had a previous version of RH installed and it worked just fine (RH 7.2), but now It is something completely new to me. What is this problem and why does it load the module ad1848 when my sndcard uses only the module cs4232? Could this be the issue? It seems that the system loads the module ad1848 only for a component of my sndcard (Crystal model), for the WSS/SB component, in rest it loads the module cs4232 and they seem to work, as I can listen to system sounds like login or shutdown etc.

http://staff.xmms.org/priv/redhat8/ has the plugin you need to play MP3' for xmms. As far as other multimedia formats I have not tried them yet. Good Luck

you are probably better off using red hat 7.3, it has all the multi-media support. what i did was download asp linux, its based on red hat and has all the multi-media support. based on kde 3.02
