problem tar xvfz with suse 9.0

Hi all,

i´ve got a strange thing on my SUSE 9.0 machine.

if i try to extract .tar.gz archives i get the following errors

gzip: stdin: invalid compressed data--crc error
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

i know these archives are ok, because i can extract these on my local debian installation.

i´ve also get error´s while Installing Domino 6.5 on my suse Machine while the installation script uses tar.

/bin/tar: Skipping to next header
/bin/tar: Archive contains obsolescent base-64 headers
/bin/tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

Any ideas????

"problem tar xvfz with suse 9.0"

The order of the parameters makes a difference. Try xvzf instead of xvfz.
