Partition help

Hi,

I created a C: and D: drive and installed Win2k at C. After that I inserted the RH CD-roms and use fdisk to partition the D: drive into 3 partition: linux, swap, and another FAT partition intended for my Windows (call it E:drive). When I boot my windows I cannot see my E: drive. Any help?

Windows allocates its names using its own scheme and what you call a partition under Linux doesn't effect it all.

As the second FAT partition, it will most likely show up as D: under Windows. If you only see C: then make sure you have a file system on the D: drive and that it really is FAT.

Although if you right click My Computer, choose Manage, then Disk Management, you should be able to see the Linux partitions as Healthy (Unknown Partition). You can also format the unallocated space while you're there if you haven't done that already. If you haven't, it makes sense that your CD-ROM is D:. When you format it, it will likely be recognized by Windows as E:. If this is unpalatable, you can also re-assign drive letters.

You know, it's going to be fun not relying on this OS (win) so much.. .
