Hello Everyone, I just finished downloading and installing Xandros 2.01 OCE (over a 56K)! The installation took only about 10 minutes and everything was correctly configured and set up without even asking me a single question. Unlike any other Linux distro, Xandros automatically detected and configured my PCTel 56K Modem, as a matter of fact I'm writing this from Xandros over a dial-up connection to MSN.
But I need help with these three problems:
1. The Mouse is too slow and jerky, I've tried increasing the speed in the control panel and lowering other values, but it made no difference. Any help?
2. My internet connection is awfully slow and times out after several seconds, in other words my download speed starts at 1.2KB/sec and starts going down until it totally stops for about a minute then it starts coming back to around 1.0KB/sec then again the same thing happens over again. I can get up to 5.2KB/sec on my Windows XP on the same PC (I'm dual-booting), is there any tweaks I can do to increase the speed and decrease the time-outs? BTW, I've already tried lowering and/or highering the MTU, but with no difference.
3. The Taskbar/KDE Panel (Kicker) crashes once when surfing the internet (dial-up) then reloads perfectly fine, about a minute later it crashes again and doesn't return leaving me without a taskbar!
Here is my system specs in case it's needed:
Intel Celeron "Williamette" 1.7GHz
256MB PC-133 Kingston SDRAM
ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB DDR AGP 8X (Running in AGP 4X Mode)
60GB IBM Deskstar HDD (Windows XP)
6GB Maxtor HDD (Xandros)
BestData 56HP92-PCT 26K/V.92 Modem (PCTel Chipset)
Thank you, and help would be appreciated. I've already tried the Xandros support forum but got no response.
