Do you mean the Lilo listing of available OSs, or after some items scroll by with [ OK ] or [ FAILED ] next to them?

Did you download the cds? If so did you checksum before and after burning?

Before Lilo? Then it's not got anything to do with linux or a linux app. More likely to be a hardware failure.
What is on the screen when it fails?

But that's usually during an OS's bootup...
So let's see. You just installed Mdk9.0 (Only OS on pc?) and on reboot you get the normal BIOS stuff, then nothing about Lilo or Grub, then nothing about a linux kernel, or the [ OK ] messages, just something about update?

Have you flashed your BIOS?

Do you remember picking an option in linux about Lilo, or any changes to the startup process?

Ok I mean have you flashed your bios just between having your old OS on the box, and installing Mdk?
You need to try to post the exact error message you get when the screen is freezing.

have you tried booting from a rescue disk? that would make sure the bootloader is correct. (I think you can use cd1 of the mandrake 9.0 distro as a rescue disc - boot from it and choose to have more options when presented with the loading screen. type "rescue" at the boot: prompt and see what happens.) This could be very useful in working out your problem.

from your last post, it sounds as though your computer is still using the XP bootloader, which would explain why it boots into XP without warning. This would definitely happen if you installed (or reinstalled) XP after mandrake - windows should always go on first as it has a nasty habit of overwriting the boot sector without telling you :s

Where did XP come into this?

OK, start again. Which OSs do you want where? XP on primary drive, Mdk on secondary?
I have never researched what RAID is or how it works, so... what's that boot drive doing?
