I saw some screenshots of a Linux distro about a month ago that looked just like windows down to the taskmanager and start button.. But now I can't find it anywhere... does anybody know of the distro I'm speaking of?
I saw one where someone had used some de and he had copied the start button and everything. I can't remember whereI saw it, but I think it was on the old lno site.
I don't know why someone would do that though. I like my computer to have a cooler wm/desktop than Microsoft's sucky look.
The screenshot looks very similar to what I had seen except he had also made the start button look just like the one Windows uses.
When I moved to Linux, having different looking desktops was very exciting. Then I discovered you could just run a wm if you wished and have a mysterious, blank desktop.
Why copy a failure to enhance the Linux transition? I just don't get it. Just jump in. The water is fine!
If Linux had looked and acted like Windows, I would have ditched it and installed freebsd or something else.
Think of a small nonprofit that wants to buy 5 linux computers. They want email, word processing and web browsing. They use linux because the m$ negatives. Forced upgrades coming, virus problems from email attachment or screensavers downloaded or games being downloaded from the net.
They just want the damn computers to work and not lockup 4 or 5 times a day. These workers probably will not be too interested in blackbox. =)
I still don't understand what is wrong with using either any of the stable DEs or WMs that work well with a distro.
As far as just a WM, I could teach then that the right-click button on the mouse has a purpose. You can set up the 3 menu items you want to use. What could be more simple and idiot proof?
