Linux for my bunghole

I'm trying to install Fedora core 2, but it won't even get to the installation

The installation CD boots gives the usual 2 first messages saying its booting, then it just restarts the computer
I've tried SUSE 9.1 Pro too, and it does the same thing - it only works when i turn off ACPI for installation - and even then it gives some errors when it's installing

I don't know what's going on - as I used to run Redhat 9 on this computer (Asus P4p800, Pentium 4 2.4ghz, 512MB ram, Samsung CDRW, all the other crap...)
The only possible explanation is that - Linux one big piece of shit

please help me

in all seriousness, unless you post what error you got, i believe you are a lieing troll. If redhat worked for you, then continue to use it.

More details... types of hardware used... hard drive setup, is it on a raid controller, etc..

It definitely isn't liking something hardware wise though from what you've provided thus far..

Beavis - In future, please use better, more descriptive titles. Also, providing more information (see posts above) will help us to better help you.

oh ok I think I know what the problem is - I recently installed an SATA (samsung spinpoint 80GB) hard disk, so this is mostly likely causing the problems. So anyway to get it to install apart from using an ATA hard disk in installation?

The hardware
Asus P4p800 (springdale chipset)
Intel Pentium 4 2.4ghz
512MB DDR Ram
Samsung 52/24/52 CDRW
Samsung spinpoint 80GB
Hercules Fortissimo soundcard
D-link 530TX+ NIC
