New release Lilidog-Bookworm-amd64 23.05.17 Full addition, and the Beardog edition
are available. The Lilidog Minimal version should be out in 18 hours or so.
"New release Lilidog Bookworm STABLE amd64 23.06.10
Currently only the Lilidog full version is available on SOURCEFORGE, while the minimal and Beardog versions will become available as they are uploaded today."
I take it it's also non-systend.
Thanks! I will check it out.
i have not yet finished downloading it, but since it is heavily and directly based upon Debian Stable I would expect to find systemd virus infecting every inch of it.
BOY would I love to find out I am wrong about that!!!!!
popped up the latest full version in QEMU under Virtual Machine Manager running on Manjaro.
This is not the fastest OS I have run, or even the fastest Linux distro, but it is right up there in the list.
As i suspected, it IS infected with systemd. That is irritating, but not fatal.
Virtually none of the utilities and applications are my favorites, they are smaller, faster little cousins. That is not terrible, as it has the entire Debian repo deck to call on so it is easy to fix if I desire.
I am not a big fan of the desktop, but it has some good points. It is simple, easy to theme or re-theme, and fully functional. IT is, as configured, informative and easy to use. I suspect that I could get used to it quickly, and that I could make it get out of may way and let me get work done: and what more do you really want?
It had not even been accepted onto DISTROWATCH yet, although I could see that it had been submitted. I will be interested in seeing where it goes and how it gets on.
New Lilidog releases uploaded to source forge recently. You have choices of Beardog (barest distro of the 3), Lilidog-Minimal, and Lilidog (full distro). Give it a try and see what this distro is about. You can find it here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/lil...iles/Releases/

"New release Lilidog Bookworm 23.07.22 All versions are available for download.
Whats new:
Updated to Debian Bookworm point release 12.1
Added option in ~/.config/openbox/autostart to start the brightness-gamma icontray application on login.
Added nightshade-indigo to the Lilidog themes configuration folder.
Changed the extra themes installer to add in the extra themes automatically for use in the Auto Changer.
Added Penguins Eggs to the Utilities installer to make an installable snapshot of your existing system.
Added Shortwave Internet radio player to the Audio/Video Installers.
Adjusted the tool tips for the installation icon in the live session to match the other tooltips style.
Added two more tint2 icon themes using the 'Awesome' fonts. One light, one dark.
Wallpaper exchange.
Added a multi installer option in the Lilidog Installers dialog to install multiple packages without input.
Updated the Discord installer to version 0.0.28
Updated the vivaldi installer.
Removed the Ocenaudio installer.
Changed the ld-apt-update-checker to use it's own icons from /usr/share.
Removed the text color changer from the tint2 options dialog as opened from the toggles menu.
Changed pipewire installation to use the pipewire-audio meta package for install.
Changed how firmware is controlled through the installer, removing errant firmware files and reducing the size of the ISO.
Changes for Live-build for live package installation and removal."
Complete overhaul of the menu system, changing the format to use prepend.csv instead of mymenu.csv thereby changing how entries are placed in the menu, with icons added to the extended menus, and search bar improvements/fixes. The icons have been adjusted down from 20px to 16px. These changes also include improvements to the jgmenu icon changer script, with better checks and controls for switching between icon themes, or no icons if desired. These are the preliminary changes, so not much visible to users except the additional icons and icon size in this regard.
Changes to all of the installer scripts to use the new menu files and add the entries correctly. In the process of these adjustments, three installers have been removed due to inaccurate links. These include the Minecraft installer, the Midori installer, and the apt executor installer, which was a pet project when initially creating an update notifier for apt. This one can still be found in my configuration github if wanted.
Various other Installer changes where errors were found in spelling, etc.
Change to Picom on openbox entry to fork picom to the background. This stops some redundant error messages in ~/.xsession-errors that are of no consequence. If wanting to check for picom errors in the future, removing --daemon from the picom entry in ~/.config/openbox/autostart will enable these warnings.
Changes to the default theme setter located at the bottom of the "paw" menu of tint2. These include fixes for tint2, where the top and bottom panel were not being properly adjusted, and entries for the new menu system to ensure the same.
Adjustments, fixes, and additions to the sound notification script, combining the two separate scripts, adding extra sounds, and changing the dialog to make changes on the fly. Look in the "paw" in tint2, or in the toggles menu to add notification sounds if desired.
Changed pnmixer icon to the default icon rather than following the theme icon. This may be changed back in the next release if found to not be an issue.
Wallpaper exchange of a single wallpaper because it's groovy."
"New release 23.10.08 for Beardog, Minimal and Full."
"What's new:
Complete theme change to Ozark. The Ozark theme will stay default through several releases as it is worked on further. Changing the full themes helps me with various other items, allowing me opportunities to find and fix bugs I might otherwise miss.
Conky battery changes. Now, the battery entry will show charging or discharging, and if under 20%, the number will be displayed in red. The line in shortcuts is disabled by default. The line in the full conky (right side), is enabled, and will show ONLY if you have a battery.
Added a Dropbox installer, which I now think is better than sliced cheese. I put the app on my phone, and it makes transferring files between computer and phone the easiest of them all that I have tried.
Two extra options for tint2 icons, though one of them is very close to the default.
Option to turn on and off transparency in the transparency dialog.
Beardog gets 15 new installers in a Utilities Installer dialog, containing mostly those programs that require some steps that need to be completed in order to get the program installed.
Beardog - fixed the hotcorners menu entry to work, and removed some obsolete entries.
Numerous other small changes throughout all the builds. small fixes for grammar and punctuation in scripts, and other various files."
"New release 23.10.17
Added an i386 build for those with 32 bit machines.
This release is mostly small visual changes, so nothing huge from the last release but some basic graphical changes for wallpapers, splash, Calamares and grub screen. A few minor adjustments to the Ozark gtk theme, and matched up the conky clock top color with the build date paw color."
