afaik previous offers have resulted in a lack of interest on gentoo's part. i do think that Gentoo's forums are generally excellent and possibly better for dealing with the more specific gentoo issues like portage than a more wide reaching place like LQ.

There were previous offers? I looked through all existing and closed bugs in Gentoo's bugzilla -- which is where they do EVERYTHING Gentoo related -- and came up with nothing.

Agreed, I used to want a subforum, but that was before I discovered how wonderful the Gentoo community really is.

You should have searched here on LQ. There are many past threads about the Gentoo forums issue. I think XavierP even wrote a sticky thread in linux distributions explaining why certain distributions do not have forums here.

I think that gt_swagger was talking about other possible offers on bugzilla, not linuxquestions.

Yes I know he was talking about Gentoo Bugzilla. My point was that if he had poked around LQ Website and Suggestions forum, he would have seen that in the past, LQ has made several offers to Gentoo which were not accepted. These were probably emails so may or may not show up in the Gentoo bugzilla.
