Where is the config file that sets the path variable in gentoo ?

i uninstalled Arts sound server because it was causing my system to hang.
but it also removed the /usr/kde/3.3/bin entry from my path variable.

so i need to add it back in. any ideas ?

now its even worse !!!!
gentoo is nolonger stable enough to re-emerge arts.

even with no X or KDE apps running, gentoo freezes.
i cant even get gentoo working in a chroot environment.

ohh well, this is the first time gentoo ever let me down.
but i still dont understand what went wrong..

Okay.. uninstalling arts (a dependency of kdebase) was not a good idea,
but there is no reason that should have made a command line only login unstable.

i need my system to be up and running fairly quickly, so ill be installing from stage3 (i used stage 1 last time)


next time, im making a rescue hard disk image !

just wheni had gentoo just the way i wanted it... it was literally perfect !
