Just walking a fresh Gentoo install, (first time Gentoo, first time Linux, you are dealing with a newbie) and it fails at the point you copy the resolv.conf over . The directory it is supposed to be in does exist, and has all sorts of files in it, but resolv.conf is not one of them.
If I knew what exactly should be in there, I would create it manually with nano, but I do not know exactly what should be in this file.
Links2 works, so if I could download somethign to tweak, that woudl work too, I think.
Gentoo is probably not the best newbie distro but good on ya for giving it a go, I like the idea of Gentoo I just think portage is poorly maintained but I know many disagree with me so hey
If the file is empty then just create an empty one, that's what I did. I connect to a router using DHCP though so it handles all my nameservers, might be different on your setup but if you've gotten this far without it you'll probably be able to finish no worries.
