I'm just doing a stage 3 install right now and I got some time to kill while emacs is compiling...
So I'm just curious... How long did it take you to compile KDE3? For me, it just finished a few minutes ago at about 13 hours. I have a Athlon XP 2200+ and 768mb ram. I'd just like to see what other speeds some of you guys had

when I installed kde it took me about 17 hours in my Intel Celeron 1.3 Ghz but now I'm using xfce4 and it compile in much less time and its just as good as kde and less bloated
I wish I knew, however, for the biggies (for me that's almost anything short of xcalc ) I 'set it and forget it (tm)'. I start the emerge, go to bed, or startx and forget about it for a while, then come back a day or so later to see if there were any problems, remedy them, and re-emerge or enjoy the new emerge. I've got a decent system, but am in dire need of a CPU upgrade (900mhz Athlon-tbird).
Where can i find the files or what do I need to do to continue. The only thing I can think of is going back and starting from the very begining and reinstall gentoo from a stage-1 (again....)
I don't know what you are trying to install but the win32 codecs are currently at version 0.90 and version 0.50 isn't there anymore.Did you rsync your portage tree?
Try to emerge kde-base after rsync.
Reinstalling from stage1 wont help you any with that.
