Gentoo + apache + mysql problem

I just installed moodle (www.moodle.org) over gentoo. It works find, but I have a problem with character encoding. The website is going to be in spanish.

Moodle has translation files for spanish and they work great. The problem is when I save something to the data base (mysql). If I write something like educación, it would be saved on the data base as: educaci. If I save directly the data on the database (phpmyadmin) it would save the info find, but when I try to see it on the moodle web interfase I get extrange characters.

I thinks this has something to do between apache an mysql over gentoo. I have installed moodle several times over other distros: CentOS, Debian, Fedora, Mandrake, etc.. with no problem. I don't now if this is the right place to ask. Hope you can help me.

By the way is the first time I try Gentoo.

Greetings

Hi,

you may have a MySql that does not have support for Unicode. Have a read on the chapters about internationalization:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/4.1/...alization.html

If you can see if your MySql is working then we can eliminate it as source of your problem.
