you can install rpm on top of LFS if you want, that's the whole point of it, it will do whatever you want it to do.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply,

I will look into the rpm for LFS.

Is there any tutorials for rebuilding redhat or the likes into a base for my own distro ?

Thanks
Steve

Hi Chris,

I want to make a desktop OS that only has basic packages,
then the user can decide if they want more packages to then install them at will.

I know that there are probably distro's around that already do this with custom installs.

However i would like to learn how you actualy make a distro (other than compiling from source)

any ideas ?

Thanks
Steve

Hi ctkroeker,

Yes i have gone right into LFS. I have built a distro from LFS but the problem is being able to re-distribute the OS after i have done.

I have got it as far as a Shell and xorg server, but i want to give it to my friends and possibly (if its any good) put it on my site for anyone to download

But im not sure where to go for the information.

I thought about rpm based system as it will be easyer for the end user to install software.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Steve
