Best distro for making a living

I worked in the IT field but mostly with windows. I figure that if I learn more about Linux, I should stick with a distro I will likely end up using at work. What distro do you think is mostly use in the corporate work. I am thinking RedHat, so I am thinking that I could use CentOS.

On another note, even though CentOS tend to have older software, are the developer packages up to date?

Generally, I've found that the corporate world gravitates towards RH-based on the server, but some of that is changing with Ubuntu server. In reality, aside from a few paths and startup scripts being different, things are pretty much the same regardless of distro, so find one that works for you and learn from there.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or Suse Linux Enterprise Server (SLES). Those are the two big enterprise names with Red Hat having more market share (in the USA).
