XFCE doesn't load properly / window manager stops working
compositor doesn't load anymore and window manager doesn't respond to keystrokes at all, other parts of XFCE also don't get loaded anymore.
rolling back root using btrfs didn't anything - so it must have something to with the configuration in /home, I guess
I think installing qt5ct is what caused the issue. I did it because kvantum QT themes didn't apply anymore, although they did in a minimal window manager without qt5ct. https://14um.net/exciting-tips/linux...xfce-in-linux/
any idea how to troubleshoot this issue?
is there some log I can look at to find what is happening?
Sometimes such things result in Plasma from cache corruption. Logging out of Plasma and deleting ~/.cache/ sometimes solves the issue. Maybe this would work for XFCE, possibly in conjunction with changing settings so that on logout all apps are closed, so that on next startup the desktop is void of open apps.
