[SOLVED] Xfce desktop missing

Thread Tools at top of this page.

When stuff gets really wonky, I just move the entirety of ~/.config to ~/.config.something and logout|in.
Fixes it every time.
Laborious to re-set my prefs, but at least that's favorable over stuff that don't work at all.

there is a "pop down menu" to mark thread as solved. I think it is in "thread tools"

edit:seems like that was already answered in previous post.

Adding to an old thread, but very relevant to me. Running Mint 18.2 XFCE 32-bit. During download of a large udemy.com class, my intel quad 2 pc locked up, don't know why. When logged back in, all desktop icons, background, and right-click-on-desktop had disappeared. Panel and Menu were fine. Found this thread and tried JJJCR's suggestion. Deleting the ~/.cache/sessions folder worked for me. All restored.
