VMWare Server on Kubuntu 6.10

I recenty switched my main desktp box from Windows XP to Kubuntu (not my first choice distro, but i didnt have the time to configure Debian or Slack)

One of the first things i installed was VMWare Server, to ruin a VM box i used under Windows XP. However, when i utilize the program via the K menu, the bouncing icon dissapears after several minutes adn the Server Console fails to show up. In the console, i get the following error

Code:
kids@PERRONE:~$ vmware
/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware: /usr/lib/vmware/lib/libpng12.so.0/libpng12.so.0: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/libcairo.so.2)
Advice on teh VMWare company forums told to
Code:
sudo apt-get libpng12-0
and receive the following message
Code:
kids@PERRONE:~$ sudo apt-get install libpng12-0
Password:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
libpng12-0 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
I was wondering if anybodfy here could help me with this problem?

When i used kubuntu before, often i had the same problems your describing. i would click on something to open it up, and the icon would bounce indicating that it was working, but no program came up. I got tired of that after a little while and switched to ubuntu, where that doesn't occur. My advice is to try it in ubuntu, since i have VMWare server set up in 6.10 and its mostly working well.

Try removing only versions of libdbus:

sudo apt-get install libdbus-1-3
(verify that 1.3 is already installed or does install properly)
sudo apt-get remove libdbus-1-2

That should take care of it.
