As far as my use it does delete fully when using shift. Try other side shift or other delete?? If it fails for you then I'd assume keyboard issue or install issue?? Not sure if you can easily change that behavior.
ok, thanks for the heads up. sadly only 1 del. key on this laptop. had no issues with the trash bin under Fedora, just under Ubuntu. Odd its with both 18.04 and 20.04 LTS.
Since Ubuntu have this in their official help for the newest version, and others report this to be working as expected, it would seem likely that the problem is on your side somewhere.
Maybe indeed a keyboard problem, hard- or software. Maybe a dconf setting. Maybe something else.
