How to configure rc.d?

That is the directory that contains the services scripts that are linked to from in rc#.d.

For example for runlevel 5, there may be a link for the dbus daemon.
/etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S01dbus -> ../dbus

You might want to read the SAG guide at www.tldp.org, as well as the manpage for chkconfig if you have it.
