Problems pasting images into Libre office writer after Firefox upgrade

Greetings, Linuxians

SOLVED... " View, check box "Images and Charts" unchecked itself, re-check marked.
--------------------------------------------------

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 32 bit, Firefox Quantum 57.0.1 32 bit

Research on Firefox sites was no help, so I am here again.

Recently my Firefox browser was automatically upgraded to the above version. The only serious problem I've been encountering since the upgrade is that when I do a right click, edit-copy over an image in Firefox, and paste it into Libre Office Writer, now I get an empty box with an image number or letter. Prior to the upgrade the process worked fine.

Anyone know what the bug is, and the fix, if any? Or am I alone with this manifestation?

Thanks very much, lex

BTW,the Libre Writer version is:

Version: 5.1.6.2
Build ID: 1:5.1.6~rc2-0ubuntu1~xenial2
CPU Threads: 2; OS Version: Linux 4.4; UI Render: default;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group

What'sw your Libreoffice version? I'm running Libreoffice-5.2.4.0+ and firefox-57.0 under Slackware64-14.2 and all is fine. Pictures copy peacefully.

Try segmenting - divide & conquer. Does the picture paste into other apps? With an apt-get type of update, you often don't spot what's updated. Does the picture paste into another tab?

Hello, thanks for responding. No, this was not an apt-get-upgrade situation, rather an upgrade to Firefox Quantum, which was was done in the background by Mozilla, then announced with a pop-up page once completed.

The pasting of images issue may have been purely synchronistic, but the timing did seem to indicate the possibility of an interaction with Libra Office Writer. I do consider that possibility as being a remote one.

However, one search result returned was on the website "Ask Libre Office", or "Libra Office Questions" after redefining the search term as something akin to "Problem pasting images from Firefox Quantum into L. O. Writer, resultant image boxes are empty". Or so on.

This took me directly to the L.O. Writer help file, explaining that a checkbox located in Menu/ View/ Images and Charts/ would need to be checked in order to perform this simple operation.

Sure enough, it was not checked, but it must have been originally, as it was working fine prior to the manifestation of the pasting problem.

Just another of those wild and wacky mysteries one encounters while "computing".

Being a relative greenhorn using Ubuntu for about three years now, I still have very much to learn.

The good news is that what I learn is now most often directly tied to accomplishing a useful purpose, versus having had to acquire a large skillset
and personal knowledge base for Whindoze, merely to keep the big pesky beast running.

Thanks again and regards, lax
