@biker_rat
Just tried the Alien LiveCD of Slackware. It almost works !! The GLXInfo is good (that mean that I need to get Nouveau working on Ubuntu) However the screens and animations are laggy and if too much adjusted the nvidia screen can lag out (it come back after a reboot)
I believe that it s related to the clock thing that you talked about. (sorry to the lack of accents, the french keyboard dosent work on that distribution it seems)

Thank you for your help

Slackware live stuff seems to have the curious notion that everyone lives in the US :-/.
The good thing about Slackware is that you can fix stuff like that. The bad thing is that you might want to fix stuff like that.

Make sure you're in Unicode, not CP<anything>. I've been editing the Irish (ie) keyboard symbols in /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/ie to get myself Gaelic 'fada' Like French acute (áéíóú), the Gaelic 'buailte' or'seaḃhaiṫe' which is a dot over a consonant to soften it, as well as some maths symbols (90º µ ¢≤≥) and I'm adding to them.

Well the Slackware Live CD seems to work about the same than Ubuntu about graphics. My goal now is to make nouveau work on final install, What could be the difference between livecd and fresh install ?
About french keyboard there is an option in the grub menu to change keyboard layout but when i'm booting with the french keyboard it just dosen't boot at all

  1. SPEED: Your slowest platter these days is 50MB/S. SSDs are≅500MB/S. LiveDVDs are very slow by comparison.
  2. You can fix and reconfigure installs, LiveDVDs are 'one-size-fits-all.'
  3. You can add stuff easily to an install.

As for the boot issue, see my last post.
