Login problem

I have installed ubuntu9.04 in my system,and now it displaying a blue screen instead of login window after displaying the ubuntu loading window.i can't access the login window.do anyone have a solution for this problem???

Have you tried switching to the regular terminal login (Ctrl-Alt-F1)?
It could be a problem with the graphical window system (X config,...).
To switch back to graphical, Ctrl-Alt-F7

Is there anything going wrong during the boot process?

it is not working when trying to the regular terminal mode.it is just displaying some red scratch like designs with the blue screen

Try to install graphics driver. Install lynx from terminal and search for graphics driver as per your need.

One thing I like to suggest you that Ubuntu 10.04 has released which a long term service release so why don't you go for that.
