I have 4 different installs of OS,3 Linux and one FreeBSD they all have KDE plasma installed and some switch desktops using the root window and some don't and they all have
workspace behavior --> Virtual Desktops --> Navigation wraps around
selected, but I get different behavior from them, and the I think its called the pager, that little item that shows what VDT you're on it works with the pointer over it, but not the root window in all of them.
any idea what is really going on behind the scenes?
A little confused by your terminology. What do you mean by root window? You probably should post the version of KDE Plasma and KDE Frameworks for each instance with the problem. I can tell you for the longest time, there was a bug that would not allow you to change virtual desktops by scrolling the mousewheel on an open spot on the desktop. That's been fixed in more recent releases of KDE Plasma. Not sure that's what you're referring to, however.

root window, that's a common term. the main window. (aka desktop)

Okay I am seeing the pattern now, I didn't know there was a bug in the system. now I just need to figure out how to upgrade the one that is not working. thanks. !!
