Ideas to clone the Atari St desktop ?

Hello,

Would you have some ideas to clone the Atari St desktop ?

The fonts could be AtariST8x16SystemFont.ttf. Ok. Fine.

However which top bar panel could we use?
I would rather create a top panel manager with Xlib one lightweight, such as in dwm windows manager.

I would use :
Code:
feh --bg-tile ~/.wallpapers-st.jpg
I would seek a lightweight Window mananager, but which one?

herewith the shot.

Greetings,
Pat

Hmmm...

Well, you could start with twm (e.g. Trivial Window Manager), I should think. That should be lightweight enough to do what you need.

Looking at the image, though, reminds me of the desktop I had on my old Commodore 128 when we installed GEOS on it.

I wonder if there is a GEOS-based/GEOS-styled desktop environment in linux? I know that there is the successor to GEOS, called BreadBox Ensemble, but the current version (which you can run inside dosbox on linux) looks like Windows 3.1.
