I'm running linux mint 17.2 I'm trying to install a router for my cell phone wi fi. I need to open ports 123TCP.500UPD,and 4500UPD. I need to log in to the router to finish the setup. The man I deal with has been off. Can I do this with my computer. I need to get the router connected to login to it. Directions say there ports need open to do this. I opened the ports on my firewallbut this doesn't correct the problem.

Is this your router? You should have the administrative privileges to connect to and manage it. You reference directions which discuss ports, and it sounds as if the ports are: TCP port 123, UDP ports 500, and 4500. And you've said you've opened these ports, but it still doesn't work.
Well, what cell phone model is it, what router model is it, and do you have internet access through WiFi for other devices which attach to this router?
I'm confused as to why you are concentrating on specific TCP/UDP ports. For my router, I just attach my cell phone to it, as long as I have the correct password, it attaches and I can access the internet, without any special configurations needed.
And what does any of that have to do with Linux Mint 17.2?
The router won't connect properly the directions says these ports need to be open for them to connect. Once they are opened to shut down router and my gigabyte router, and computers for two minutes then restart. This is a linux site and maybe they software to do this job. Some of cell calls will go through the internet. If the router is connected then I can axcess the router.

Please clarify: Are you installing a router for your cell phone to connect to or are you referring to your cell phone's hotspot capability as a router?
I have the router registered with T-mobile.I have a cable modem and a T_P wired router. While I do have an additional port on the T-moblle I could use I don't use it. This will work as a voip if the signal is bad. The manual that came with this new unit says these ports are required. T-mobile uses one of the ports to update the unit. I already have a voip phone. All i need is wify capability.I want cell phone that works if the power goes off. I may have to change cell carriers.
:sigh:
Assuming all you want is to log into your router:
On any machine that is connected to it, try this.
Then you can open a browser and navigate to that address. Simply enter e.g. 192.168.0.1 into the URL bar. That should open the router's web UI.

No sure this really helps.
It seems to explain that you have a cable modem and WiFi router. I have no idea what you mean by T_P wired router, but "wired" means that it's not going to work with a mobile phone.
If I'm interpreting the question/problem correctly:
IF the phone can do WiFi calling, then getting it attached to your WiFi router should be sufficient to get it working.
I would think it doesn't have to do with the cell carrier, but instead whether or not the cell phone itself can switch between WiFi for calls and the cell network.
You're saying that you already have a VoIP phone. But, what exactly does this mean? Such as is that the same mobile phone you use over cellular?
OR are you saying that you wish to use your cell carrier's capabilities to use a VoIP phone at times when the general Internet is not accessible from your regular router?
It would help if you summarized this problem in better detail. Perhaps you can summarize it better, in a single reply. Not sure I can piece together the various replies you've offered which have yet given me enough data where I can envision what the call or network scenarios looks like.
I'm running a cat 6 wire from my T-P router and plugging into my wireless router which has a cat 6 plug for another item.
I only need ideas on how to open three ports from my cable company which feeds my modem. I think the cable company tech is on vacation.
