How to automagically run gtkpod instead of rhythmbox when inserting ipod shuffle?

Hi all,

I am running GNOME desktop on Fedora10 and can easily use both rhythmbox and gtkpod to interact with the ipod.

My real problem is - where does GNOME/Nautilus/Fedora(?) keep the information telling the system to run rhythmbox when I insert the ipod into the usb port.

I have tried right clicking on the ipod icon on the desktop and the only two choices I have are "Open with Rhythmbox Media Player" and "Open with VLC media player".

Obviously somewhere gtkpod has not been registered as a viable alternative for whatever mime type the ipod is. I think I'm on the right track here, but I have run out of ideas and cannot find where the appropriate system connections are made.

Can anybody point me in the right direction please? Thanks in advance.

Right click the ipod icon, select Properties and choose the Open With tab.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply disillusionist. I've already tried this and I don't get an "open with" tab. There is obviously a problem with gconf parameters or similar, but I can't work out where all the software vs hardware connections are made. ie. where is the config file which makes rhythmbox the default for opening ipods, and where can I add gtkpod as an alternative?
