Angry Help please, having trouble with Clam-AV

Trying to run a scan of my computer which freezes after about 3 minutes and only a cold reboot will start the computer again. This problem has only recently started. Prior to late May / Early June Clam A/V would complete scans and give lists of files to delete, which of course I would do. There has been no changes to the PC that would cause a failure.

Welcome to LQ!

How are you trying to run this scan?

I'm gonna suggest doing so, in terminal to see WTF, OK?
Terminal >
Code:
clamscan -ir $HOME <enter>
Let us know.

disable (clam-tk> Options > Possible Unwanted Applications) PUA and scan only your $HOME file system contents.

or terminal >
Code:
clanscan -ir $HOME <enter>
