Help needed in installing: Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela Cinnamon Edition


On My PC

Operating System
Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core i3 4130 @ 3.40GHz
Haswell 22nm Technology
RAM
4.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard
Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. H97M-D3H (SOCKET 0)
Graphics
DELL S2440L (1920x1080@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics 4400 (Gigabyte)
1023MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 (NVIDIA)
Storage
931GB Seagate ST1000DM003-1CH162 (SATA)
Optical Drives
DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device
HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NSB0
Audio
Realtek High Definition Audio


I want to install Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela Cinnamon Edition 64-bit
I tried using DVD and bootable usb
the process goes like this;
First Screen:
Start Linux Mint
Start Linux Mint (Compatible mode)
[ ]

Next Linux Logo

Next a black screen on left side numbers and lines
[17.236530]x86_64_start_kernel+0x142/0x153
[17.236536]
[17.236539]
[17.236531]


it is stopped. same after 5 mins. I am not sure what exactly is happening and what should i do; Please Help Me

It may be the Nvidia Graphics card so try using nomodeset. When you see the Mint menu options hit the e key on the keyboard, then with the new sreen use the down arrow key on the keyboard to go down to the line beginning with linux, the right arrow key to go to the end of the line, leave one space and type in nomodeset, all lower case letters. The bottom of the screen should tell you which key to hit to boot, F10 I believe. Post back if that doesn't work.
