GUI App for ripping CD's to MP3 (without Gnome/KDE)

Hi
Can anyone suggest a gui program that can rip cd's to mp3 (preferably retrieving album details from online database)? I'm using Slackware 11 so I do not have the Gnome libraries available for Grip and I opted not to install KDE as it seems bloated. I'm using the XFCE desktop. I'm a linux newbie so go easy thanks.

Thanks Lenard

I tried to compile ripperx but failed with no distinct error message. A Google search of this found lots of others with the same problem but no solutions. This did however lead me to find cdmp3 (http://www.roland-riegel.de/cdmp3/index.html) which works on the command line but is still a step forward.

Whilst trying to find a gui for cdmp3 I found this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor..._media_players and from there Banshee (http://www.banshee-project.org/Main_Page) looks to be what I'm after however Kernel 2.6 is listed in the requirements (along with a few other files) and Slack 11 uses kernel 2.4. So I appear to be left with few options:

1. Try and get 2.6 kernel on Slackware (no idea where to start << Noob)
2. Use a different distro (I have FC6 here but chose to use Slackware to learn as apparently it would give me a better understanding of Linux)
3. Keep hunting

I don't think you can use 2.6 with Slack as all the apps are based off of 2.4 (I could be wrong). If you want a distro that gives you a better understang I would suggest gentoo. It's better (IMHO) and you can compile only what you want.

You're wrong You can happily use 2.6 kernel on Slack, without any problems.

As for CD ripper, try abcd (CLI based), or make your fingers busy with cdparanoia/lame.
