Question Fedora 36: no audio output for USB devices on mini PC that has no built-in audio

I have a mini PC with a J5005 CPU and no built-in audio. After installing Fedora 36, it naturally showed "dummy output" in the audio section of system settings. But when I plug in a USB audio device such as my Audient iD14, it doesn't show up in the audio settings panel (still just "dummy output"). The device is visible under lsusb, and it has the correct driver (via alsa-firmware). I've tried to find the device in pavucontrol and alsamixergui, but to no avail. The same device works fine on my laptop running Fedora 36.

Is it possible that there is some global setting in Fedora or Gnome that says "audio disabled -> ignore all audio devices"? I'm just not sure how to diagnose the issue at this point.

until you get a better reply

post the full output of, with usb sound device inserted
Code:
lsusb
next translate your ID ...this is a faked example as I do not know your IDs.
eg ID c0f4:04c0 into vc0f4p04c0....then run

Code:
modinfo snd-usb-audio | grep vc0f4p04c0
if you get a hit...the module has support for your device, but according to this post, it may be unlikely
https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic...472154#p117889
and its reply.

2) when you insert the device check your /var/log/dmesg or messages

3) The maker does not appear to offer any linux drivers
https://audient.com/products/audio-i...d14/downloads/

eg
Code:
sudo dmesg
may show missing firmware?

You may need linux-firmware?

4) modinfo for the kernel module shows you may be able to trick it by naming the vendor and product ids

as per
Quote:
parm: vid:Vendor ID for the USB audio device. (array of int)
parm: pid:Product ID for the USB audio device. (array of int)
probably won't work...but first use root powers to remove the module then for your ids try something like

Code:
sudo rmmod snd-usb-audio
sudo modprobe snd-usb-audio vid=(your id string) pid=(your id string)
zero confidence that will work as a search of link for audient not good

I don't know if this might help you but I got something similar running using installing 'pro audio'

Here is the link to my thread: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/comet-la...cted/103986/17

Hope it helps you...
